The most recent statistics on childhood obesity are quite alarming, that 16 percent of children and adolescents ages six to nineteen are already overweight, while over this age are told to be on the verge of gravity of growth to the extent of calling undesirable.Obesity in this age group has taken and the pace of an epidemic, which health experts to show concern for him.

I say this because being overweight can lead to serious medical conditions such as heart attacks, stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, cardiovascular disease and more. Along with these physical side effects, psychological harm can occur for a child obesity as well. I say this because as a child you are sensitive to many things. If a bully makes fun of you at school, a child is hurt. If a child can not play a particular sport because of its weight, which can lead to problems of depression and life. There are many other examples I can give, but I think you get the point.

Make sure your children are active is one of the best things you can do for them. Do not let then fall victim to the television or computer. Limit sedentary time to one hour per day. Show them that it's fun to go out and play well. There are many ways to get out and moving. Biking with the family or take a walk with the dog.

The number one place that are likely to eat unhealthy food at school. Most school cafeteria food is highly processed and has very little nutritional value. Packing them a lunch every day is a good way to ensure you are getting the vitamins they need to keep them going all day. It is also a good idea to pack a healthy snack so you do not make a stop by the vending machine at school to pick up a chocolate bar or bag of crisps.
Keep them away from unhealthy food choices.

This is a bit more complicated and more difficult for parents to control. The schools have vending machines, the high school gives them cookies or other unhealthy foods and, of course, no fast food. Besides that, there is often poor food choices at home that you can get a hold of when they want a snack. If the cafeteria is to unhealthy choices, then you should send a lunch to school with your child.
